Digit recognition is an essential problem in machine learning and pattern recognition, with many applications including optical character recognition (OCR), postal automation, & handwriting analysis relying on it. Neural networks have become increasingly potent tools for digit recognition in recent years because of their capacity to automatically extract discriminative features from data. This paper focuses on several elements related to digit recognition and provides an extensive overview of neural networks for this purpose.
